Information and History of SCP Site-97

Visual of Site-97 before being bought by the Foundation

Nestled within a secluded rural area, SCP Site-97 is one of the SCP Foundation's new and fast growing research and containment sites. Established in the early 1950s, Site-97 has earned its reputation as a fortress of security and a beacon of research, dedicated to the containment and study of humanoid SCPs. This facility, with its underground bunkers, cutting-edge laboratories and humane treatments of SCP's who deserve it, stands as a testament to the Foundation's relentless pursuit of knowledge and safety.

Site-97's primary mission is twofold: to securely contain the humanoid anomalies of the area, and to gain and safeguard sensitive information critical to understanding these entities. Over the decades, the site has been home to multiple handfuls of mostly humanoid SCPs, each presenting unique challenges and insights into the anomalous world. From sentient objects to almost human beings, the SCPs at Site-97 are as diverse as they are enigmatic. Here you can read up on how the facility came to be, and it's history on how it became the way it is now.

The Beginnings

Establishment and Location

Site-97, before it became a part of the SCP Foundation, was designed to be a boarding school and built in 1948. As funds dwindled however, the half-finished building had to be sold, and ended up in the hands of the Foundation in the year 1952 thanks to the resident 05 Council Member. As few people who aren't a part of the Foundation know about it's existence, and natural barriers provided by the surrounding landscape keep it safe and hidden away, Site-97 was chosen as high-security but also low-risk site, ideal for storing important files and keep helpful SCPs hidden.

Changes to the Building

After gaining the area as a research and containment site, many areas of the building were already fitting for it's desired purpose. The well-secured cellar rooms were filled with filing cabinets, classrooms were rebuilt into well-secured yet humane containment rooms, and the areas designed for student's personal rooms were mostly fitted for staff housing. The site was then further equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories for research, a staff cafeteria and meeting / interview rooms. Aside from those areal changes, there was also a complete security and technological update to the entire building.

Summary

As a critical node in the SCP Foundation's global network, Site-97 is more than just a containment facility; it is a hub of innovation and research. The site’s archives are a treasure trove of knowledge, meticulously curated to support ongoing studies and containment strategies. Leading researchers, security experts, and archivists collaborate within these walls, driven by a shared commitment to protect humanity from the unknown.
